Ceiling Fans
Ceiling fans are a great way to save the environment and your electricity costs at the same time. By running ceiling fans instead of air conditioning part of the time, you can cut electricity costs across your home or business. Here at Snapper Group, we've been installing ceiling fans in homes and businesses for years and they still do the trick. A combined approach is best, using both ceiling fans and air conditioning
Ceiling Fan Repairs
Like everything else, a ceiling fan can break down from time to time. Snapper Group jump at the opportunity to get the ladder out and fix your fan.
Some typical issues with ceiling fans include:
- the ceiling fan makes a buzzing or humming noise while running
- a clunking or grinding noise comes out of the ceiling fan when it's on
- the fan blades are bent
- you can't feel any air movement when the ceiling fan is switched on
- the fan runs slowly or isn't working at all
- wobbling or shaking

If you smell smoke or are worried about the electricity, don’t be afraid to get your family out of the house and call 000. The fire brigade will typically come out, check the situation and make it safe to go back in the house. Call an electrician immediately (you can visit our Electrical section to find out more), to have the problem fixed and get your home safe again.
Why is it dangerous to “piggy back” Powerboards?
A single powerboard (4 outlet, 6 outlet, 8 outlet) with overload protection is an effective and safe method of temporarily providing additional power outlets for your appliances. However, Energy Safe Victoria do not recommend the “piggy-backing” of Powerboards, as there is a greater possibility of overload and electrical fire.
It is important to note, should the items utilising the outlets draw greater than expected current at the same time, the powerboard may overload and power may be switched off to those appliances. An example of this is when fridges and freezers are plugged in to the same powerboard and the compressors of each appliance start at the same time.
If you frequently need to plug in additional items, Energy Safe Victoria recommend engaging a licensed electrician to install more power points. Snapper Group can help - if you want to install more power points, or any other electrical service, please check out our Electrical section.

Dodgy Wiring
Went to a client’s house today, we found that the last electrician that re-wired it years ago had done a dodgy job. He had put new wiring in and still in use was a lot of old wiring.
