Inspections

For any new electrical installation or upgrade, an inspection of the existing electrical supply and wiring is required to ensure it meets the quality and safety guidelines set out in the Australian Standards, Electrical Installations Regulations and the Wiring Rules. At Snapper Group, we're licensed to conduct electrical inspections and we have a long history of doing this so you can rely on our commitment to quality workmanship and attention to detail.

Electrical inspections can be conducted in domestic properties when renovating and building, or in any new or upgrade installation within a commercial or public centre. These must be strictly carried out to make sure the building occupants are safe, and you can't afford a lazy contractor who may miss identifying a potentially hazardous problem. If you're thinking about inspections, you're probably looking at house re-wiring or perhaps even mains supply upgrades to give yourself more power. For commercial purposes, inspections might be combined with switchboard upgrades or when setting up meter panels.

Why is it dangerous to “piggy back” Powerboards?

 A single powerboard (4 outlet, 6 outlet, 8 outlet) with overload protection is an effective and safe method of temporarily providing additional power outlets for your appliances. However, Energy Safe Victoria do not recommend the “piggy-backing” of Powerboards, as there is a greater possibility of overload and electrical fire.

It is important to note, should the items utilising the outlets draw greater than expected current at the same time, the powerboard may overload and power may be switched off to those appliances. An example of this is when fridges and freezers are plugged in to the same powerboard and the compressors of each appliance start at the same time.
